The official method
The headline number reflects money that entered Steam from outside — card, PayPal and similar payment methods — so wallet-funded purchases aren't double-counted, and refunded orders come back off the total.
- Go to help.steampowered.com and sign in.
- Open My Account → Data Related to Your Steam Account.
- Find the Spend History / External Funds Used entry — it lists your total spend broken down by source (store purchases, wallet additions, market transactions funded externally).
What the number misses
- Gifts received — games friends bought you don't show in your spend.
- Third-party key sites — retail keys redeemed on Steam cost whatever the key cost elsewhere.
- Market profit recycling — items sold on the Community Market fund further purchases invisibly to the total.
